2022 Monster Bash Co-Chairs
Brandy and Richard Harp
Philanthropy isn’t something new for Brandy and Richard Harp. It’s what they know and what they do. From volunteering to support community nonprofits to serving as ambassadors for the city of Little Rock, they serve others. Both are successful business leaders in Arkansas; she is the principal broker at Jon Underhill Real Estate; he is the man behind the impressive team at Richard Harp Homes.
Brandy and Richard not only adore each other, but their relationship is manifested through their children and their projects. Brandy loves volunteering with daughter Isabella for the National Charity League where she hopes to instill the importance and passion in supporting the community in Little Rock. This husband-and-wife duo enjoys spending time with each other and their kids. And nonprofits in Little Rock benefit from it.
Brandy is a small-town Arkansas girl with the drive of a Manhattan bond broker. But she will tell you that her greatest accomplishment is being Little Rock’s biggest cheerleader, a mom and wife. Brandy is one of the top names in Little Rock real estate, where she spends her time helping clients sell and purchase their home. And her clients will tell you, she wears a cape because she’s a superhero.
Richard, on the other hand, is proud of his Little Rock roots along with building and remodeling the homes that make people want to retreat to their residences and never leave. Richard looks at each project as to whether it would be a home that meets the needs of either a growing family or even the empty nester. Both Harps agree on many things in the building process and often team together to produce the best product for their clients. They want their clients to relish in their homes that provide a safe space and create a positive, emotional space for people to recharge. Home is where the HARP is, you might say. If it is new construction, a remodel or buying your forever home, you can count on a Harp to get you there.
Home for Healing is such a priority for the Harps. Yes, they are involved in many charities in the city, but this one has a special place. They love the transformation and leadership by their friend, Executive Director Kristin Trulock. Kristin’s efforts of providing a safe, comfortable and beautiful retreat for every guest resonated with the Harps, and they cheerfully raised their hands to chair Monster Bash, the annual Halloween party which is the charity’s signature fundraiser.
Brandy is proud Jon Underhill Real Estate is the presenting sponsor at Home for Healing’s Monster Bash. Not only has Jon Underhill Real Estate supported Home for Healing financially, the realtors at the firm volunteer with everything from working in the garden to providing nutritious meals for guests. This year, the company dedicated a page in The Scout Guide to champion the awareness of this worthy cause.
Heart of the Home Award Recipient
Larry West Jr
Larry West, Jr., a native of Hickory Ridge, Ark. population 232, is a longtime interior stylist in Arkansas with clients across the country. Larry began his dream job of designing homes after legendary designer Tom Chandler gave him his first break while Larry was working in the bookkeeping department of Chandler’s design studio. Larry, once a banker-so he’s good with the financials, found his way to actually get paid to do something he had done since he rearranged his sister’s Barbie Dream House when they were kids. Larry is a busy man with 41 projects currently on the docket for him as spring, 2022, has been extremely busy. Larry loves giving to charitable organizations and is the face behind the Arkansas Symphony Designer House (on hiatus this year due to supply-chain issues and what experts call an “everything shortage”) along with the creator of the successful and fun Boo at the Zoo event benefiting the Little Rock Zoo. Larry lives in a swell condo in Little Rock with his beloved Charlotte West (a high-maintenance cocker spaniel) and Philo (a cute mixed breed but not as Kardashian as Charlotte).
Community Impact Award Recipient
Gary has been deeply involved in the architectural/construction industry since he co-founded his first architectural firm 52 years ago. His architectural practice and construction experiences have been centered around all types of commercial and residential projects throughout his career. In 1984, upon being asked by a major developer/client, Gary started a construction firm to build the developer's projects throughout central Arkansas. This experience was very rewarding in many ways and has led to numerous friends and clients throughout the industry that Williams & Dean continues to work with today. In 2003, Gary Dean with Williams & Dean Associated Architects designed Home for Healing, formerly The Family Home. Gary is a long term volunteer of the home along with his deceased wife, Robin Dean.
